Aciclovir
Indications/Uses
HSV infections of skin including initial & recurrent genital herpes & herpes labialis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn Apply 5 times daily at approx 4 hrly omitting the night time application to lesions or impending lesions as early as possible after start of an infection. Continue treatment for 5 days & may extend treatment up to 10 days if healing has not occurred.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to aciclovir, valaciclovir, propylene glycol.
Special Precautions
Not recommended for application to mucous membranes eg, mouth, eye or vagina. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Uncommonly, transient burning or stinging after application, mild skin drying & flaking, itching.
